Twisted genius, or lonely aficionado?

What is it with being a genius and being insecure and unstable? Is it compulsory for the great artists of our time and before to be plagued by "personal" and "emotional" problems? Seems to me that many iconic figures in music (JimiHendrix, KurtCobain, MichaelJackson), the silver screen and fashion (NicoleRichie, KateMoss, RobertDowneyJr.) are caught up in the struggle against drugs, alcohol, sexual addiction and emotional instability. I mean, WHY do these incredibly gifted individuals always seem to get tangled up in this dangerous web? Hmmm.....many questions left unanswered.

Well today i was reading about one of my favourite artists, John Mayer. He has his share of troubles too, in his teens and adult life:

"When Mayer was seventeen, he was stricken with a cardiac arrythmia and was hospitalized for a weekend. Reflecting on the incident, Mayer said, “That was the moment the songwriter in me was born,” and he penned his first lyrics the night he got home from the hospital. Shortly thereafter, he began suffering from panic attacks, and lived with the fear of having to enter a mental institution. He continues to manage such episodes with Xanax, an anti-anxiety drug"

"His relationship with high-profile celebrities has led to a reputation as a "womanizer."

"set off accusations in the media and on Twitter that he is a misogynist, a kiss-and-tell ex-boyfriend, and a racist"

However (to me at least) the fact remains that he is an extremely talented musician and nothing can change that. Mannn....i want his 733T SkiLlZ!!

Tapi yg xleh blah is his expressions while playing....mcm kena seizure sialll =.=

I guess all the greats have their quirks 0.0

    hello,
i think those great people are more in touch with human suffering, causing them to be engaged with depression and such.
    it is truly a tragic.
